God's choices are not like ours. He has a way of anointing ordinary men and women, like Esther, to partner with Him in an extraordinary life. Esther, a woman seemingly insignificant in the eyes of the world, was chosen by God. She was not the obvious choice, not the one you would expect to deliver a people group from annihilation. But that's the beauty of God's plan-it's not bound by human limitations or expectations.
As usual, God sought the weakest and chose her for the highest of missions. This highlights a crucial truth: leaders are impactful for the Kingdom of God, not because of their status or training in the world but because they have been anointed and chosen in Heaven. No matter where you find yourself today, God chooses you. He chooses to love you, but He also chooses to partner with you! If you embrace His desire, He will send you on a journey that will take you to places you never imagined, He will give you favor to influence people, and He will open doors of destiny no other man can open.
This was Esther’s story. She was plucked from nothingness to be anointed to bring about deliverance! Her moment of destiny, though remarkable, could only be fulfilled if she was willing to embrace courageous faith, a faith that is not timid or hesitant but bold and unwavering.
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” - Esther 4:14
Like Esther, you can remain silent when God calls you to speak. We can all choose the comfortable route in life; God does not force us to fulfill our divine purpose. However, when we waver in timidity rather than arise in courage when God invites us to lead, we are in danger of handing off our God-given assignment to another person. Esther’s moment of divine destiny gives us insight into the truth that the question we must ponder is not, “Will God fulfill His plan?” Instead, the question we should soberly set before ourselves is, “Will I fulfill my purpose amidst God’s plan?”
Your divine purpose in life cannot be fulfilled without courage and sacrifice. Kingdom leaders do not work for comfort; they lay down their lives to fight for others' protection. If your greatest aim in life is ease and comfort, when God calls you to a Heaven-sized task, you will run from it rather than rise to the occasion. Esther was a woman of boldness, not compromise, and so she embraced her God-given call. Her act of obedience had a profound impact! I believe our acts of obedience do too!
“I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.” - Esther 4:16
Jesus and Paul said words similar to Esther's (Jn. 12:27-28, Rom. 14:8), as without a willingness to perish, Jesus and Paul knew they would never fulfill their purpose! Today, choose to fulfill your purpose amidst God’s plan. Choose courage in the face of fear and obedience over comfort. For God says, “You have come to your divine moment for such a time as this; do not shrink back in timidity, for now is the time to rise up with faith!”
